Colin Opens His Innings at the Cricketers

After managing the Woolpack in Chelmsford for a couple of years, Colin Stroud is settling into his innings as landlord at The Cricketers just up the road in Moulsham Street.

Colin is taking his experience of running a busy pub to his new venue and has already made his mark, brightening up the decor inside and out, decorating both bars and refurbishing the toilets and kitchen, to give the place a warmer, more inviting place.

"It felt a bit dark and enclosed, so we've brightened it up," said Colin. "We've cleared the garden and we plan to get it looking really nice for spring."

Coming from the Woolpack, Colin knows the importance of having a good range of beers and The Cricketers has four or five real ales at any one time, going up to six as soon as possible.

"There'll always be a dark beer, a golden beer, a best bitter and a session ale plus we'll see what seasonal beers there are around. We'll keep rotating them to keep it lively and fresh."

Colin says the pub is now serving food at lunchtimes and evenings along with Sunday lunches with plenty of homemade dishes to tempt your tastebuds and a range of specials to choose from.

Live music will be a feature of The Cricketers too with bands playing each month. Beats Workin' are the next act playing the pub on Saturday, November 3 followed by The Wild Coyotes on December 8.
